Chanthappura Town to Become a Clean Town

As part of a campaign launched by the Kannur District Suchitwa Mission to transform towns across the district into clean, hygienic, and green towns, activities have commenced to develop Chanthappura Town in Kadannappalli-Panapuzha Grama Panchayat into a Clean Town.

In connection with the initiative, an extended consultative meeting was held at the Grama Panchayat Hall to discuss the proposed activities. The meeting was inaugurated by the Vice President of the Grama Panchayat, Mrs. V. A. Komalavalli. The function was presided over by the Chairperson of the Health Standing Committee, Mr. T. V. Mohanan. Mrs. Sujana M., Resource Person of the Suchitwa Mission, presented the project and its objectives.

The meeting was addressed by Standing Committee Chairperson Mrs. M. Nisha, Secretary T. Shibu Karun, Assistant Secretary Sajitha P. K., Village Extension Officer Soumya C. H., and Health Inspector Jyothi V. V.

The meeting was attended by Grama Panchayat members, representatives of traders' and industrialists' associations, representatives of various political parties, owners of business establishments in Chanthappura, heads of institutions, auto-rickshaw workers, head-load workers, Health Department officials, members of the Haritha Karma Sena, Kudumbashree workers, and others.

During the meeting, a Panchayat-level Sanitation Committee was constituted with the Grama Panchayat President as Chairman and the Secretary as Convenor. The meeting also decided to organize various activities, including a mega cleaning drive, installation of waste bins, town beautification, and the installation of sanitation information boards as part of the Clean Town initiative.
